LinkedIn is the platform where people come to brag. Right!? In the most humblest of ways of course. We’re all “really thankful” for “the wonderful opportunities” we’ve gotten throughout our careers.

And while there’s nothing wrong with some good old ‘humble bragging’ now and then, there’s another way you can use LinkedIn. A way that may deliver better results. In a shorter amount of time.

It’s an underestimated marketing tactic called… listening. Here’s the most efficient way to do it on LinkedIn.

Do not scroll through your feed. You’ll just get distracted by all kinds of things that are semi-interesting and don’t really deserve your attention. Instead, go to https://www.linkedin.com/search/results/content/.

Here you can find all posts on the LinkedIn platform. Make sure to filter out the posts that are most relevant to you. Use the All filters button in the top right of your screen.

Some of my favorite filters are…

  • Mentioning a company – Find posts about the organizations you’re interested in.
  • Author industry – Find posts from people within a specific industry.
  • Author company – Find posts from people at a specific company.
  • Author keywords > Title – Find posts from people with a specific job title.

For the best results, combine these filters with a query in the search bar at the top of your screen.

So, if you want to know what CMOs recently said about AI, you can…

  • Set cmo OR “chief marketing officer” as a Title-filter.
  • Search for ai OR “artificial intelligence” in the search bar.
  • And set a filter for posts from the Past month.

You can then bookmark the URL generated by LinkedIn to go back to the results at any point in time. And join in on the conversation.
